testing

today turned into a day of testing. in patience. did i pass? read on.
first test: we left for Fargo at 8:30 because i thought we were supposed to meet at WDAY tv for a homeschool field trip at 10. we arrived a little bit before 10, and no one was around. we told the receptionist why we were there so she made a call. we weren’t supposed to meet til 11. ho-hum.  how’d that happen? i was sure it was 10. no problem. josey and I just stopped at dunn bros coffee for a treat and some caffeine. yes, josey too.  he loves his coffee. and their blueberry muffins ROK. no, i don’t mean they are hard as rocks. i mean to say that they are dee-lishus!
2nd test: after ordering, we immediately got our treats, but they would call out our order of drinks when they were done. after about 20 minutes we still had not gotten our drinks. no problem. josey and i were having so much fun visiting that we didn’t even think of the time. when they finally called out our order, they told me they were sorry for our wait and refunded the cost of the drinks. what a blessing that was! dunn bros ROX!
3rd test: we drove back to WDAY. and waited. because the roads were slick, some families were running late. no problem. we had a chance to get to know the families that were already there.  our tour was fun and the guide was great. i learned things that i never realized about tv. there’s a lot of work that goes into just 1 ½ minutes of news time. a LOT! and there is a lot of expensive equipment involved. i mean VERY expensive. after the tour, our guide told us that we were the best group she’s ever had and that the kids were polite and didn’t ask to do things that she would have had to tell them no.  what an awesome testimony for homeschoolers! there were about 10 kids ranging from about 3 or 4 up to 14.  i’m so proud to be a homeschool mom!
4th test: after the tour, josey and i went to westgate mall. for lunch. but we ended up walking around the mall first for about an hour & ½. i was starving. josey wasn’t. so I had to wait to eat.  no problem. by this time I was already pretty used to waiting. we were having fun browsing anyway.
5th test: we went to the christian bookstore in the mall after visiting the cute baby animals at the pet store. and no, we did not get another puppy! they were cute. but not that cute. after choosing a few items at the bookstore, it was time to pay. there was a lady in front of us who had about 50 items, from books, to bookmarks, to pencils. about ¾ of the way ringing up her purchase, the cashier told us that the computer froze and she could not complete her purchase on that till. she had to switch to another one. and start over.  from the beginning. we waited about 20 minutes in line while the whole process took place. no problem. we had a chance to talk to the cashier and tell her about our free coffee at dunn bros and shared how God has been blessing us. then it was time for our purchase. because we had waited so long, she gave us an extra punch on our card. not a whole lot, but that’s one purchase less from getting our discount coupon!
6th test: i finally got to eat! chinese. it was yummy but I ate way too much. then josey wanted to check out a store on the lower level of the mall. a sports card store. go figure. so as he made his selections, i waited. and waited. and waited. then when i went to pay for his purchase, he decided he wanted one more item. so i waited some more.
did i get frustrated or angry or impatient during these tests? nope. not at all. and i was blessed for it. free coffee. extra punch on my card. and the best part? peace. the peace that surpasses understanding. it was a blessed day.
