there's a comedian in the house

i  have the most entertaining and funny kid on the block...perhaps the planet. when i asked him tonight what i should blog about, he said, "nothing. just go to bed." i said, "but i have to write something. give me some ideas." so he said, "write: my bed is calling to me 'come to me all who are weary...'"  oh, i have a comedian in the house.

i wonder if anyone else can say that their son shows no shame in dancing and singing in front of their mom, grooving to the chipmunks version of "dynamite" by taio cruz.

is he a groover or what?!?

he's always had this talent of cheering me up and making me laugh at the most inopportune times, and usually when i am not in the mood to laugh, or even smile. ever since he was able to smile. his first true belly laugh was when he was about 3 weeks old, i fed him popsicles. he slurped them up and then would giggle, for no other reason than because he could. once he realized his ability for laughter, he's done what he can to laugh, and make others laugh. especially his crabby mom. and oh, she's been crabby fairly often in her old age.  not kidding!

other than his laughter, he leaves me notes around the house, expressing his undying love for me. ok, so i exaggerate a little bit. but just a little. it might not be undying, but he tells me quite often how much he loves his mom. and i'm fortunate enough to have that blessed role. just today he left me a note. when i was going upstairs to put little E down for a nap and to take one myself, i told him in half jest and half seriousness, "feel free to wash dishes" to which he replied "what if i do?" i said, "i'd probably die of shock." in his note he told me not to drop dead of a heart attack when i got downstairs and saw that the dishes were done. funny kid!  needless to say, i did not die of shock or heart attack. but i was pleasantly surprised. very pleasantly! very surprised! wish i could have gotten a picture of that. it would have been saved for posterity.

posterity = all future generations....i would have seriously had to show his grandkids that one! never before seen photos of their grandpa washing dishes. see it here first!

ok, so i exaggerate once again. but seriously, the kid does NOT do dishes. i literally have to pay him....and beg, and cry and threaten! so today when they got done, i thought maybe josey had to pay a gnome to do them. and then take the credit for it in the note. i guess he didn’t actually come out and tell me that HE did them, after all.  hhhmmmm.....maybe there’s something to that after all.

now, taking out garbage, that’s something he CAN do. he’s gotten to be a pro at it. it used to take him at least 20 minutes to empty all the garbages in the house. seriously! i often wondered, “WHAT is he doing that takes him so long?” now he’s gotten it down to a science, takes him less than 3 minutes. i’m tellin ya....he’s a pro in action when it comes to garbage emptying! and you should have seen him cleaning the bunny cage before the bunny passed on to bunny heaven. it used to be such a dramatic production whenever i mentioned the words “clean” and “bunny” in the same sentence. i’d hear the whining and complaining for hours before the task was actually completed. i’d often say “for crying out loud! just do it, and quit complaining.” after all, whether he complained or grumbled, he was still going to do it. it often got done just before bedtime, because he would put it off for so long. talk about procrastination at its finest! by the end of bunny’s life, josey had the cage cleaning perfected. wouldn’t take him more than 2 minutes. sometimes he’d get it done before i realized he had even started.  AND out with the garbage that took him just 3 minutes more. and believe it or not, no complaining! woohoo! see, it pays to nag once in a while.  ha!

so, am i saying my kid is perfect? no. not even close. but he’s a great kid. i doubt i could find a better one if i searched the world over. or at least the block. oh, and did i mention he’s funny too?

Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds......Instead of looking at the fashions, walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them.....If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don't you think he'll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you?....Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.

In light of all this, here's what I want you to do. While I'm locked up here, a prisoner for the Master,
I want you to get out there and walk—better yet, run!—on the road God called you to travel.
I don't want any of you sitting around on your hands. I don't want anyone strolling off,
down some path that goes nowhere. And mark that you do this with humility and discipline—
not in fits and starts, but steadily, pouring yourselves out for each other in acts of love,
alert at noticing differences and quick at mending fences.

The Lord merely spoke,

He breathed the word,

and locked the oceans in vast reservoirs.

sun. stand. still.

ok, so i have this wednesday night Bible study with a group of amazing women, all of whom are believing for a sun stand still prayer to be answered in their lives. some are believing for friends and family members to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. others for jobs to come thru for them or their husbands. or for things to happen with their children that they don't see happening without GOD intervening on their behalf. i hadn't shared what mine was, for the main reason that i wasn't entirely sure it was from GOD. sure, i have prayers for friends and family members to know Jesus. i also have prayers for my own child to continue to grow closer to Jesus. and although my greatest desire right now is to be healed, those aren't my sun stand still prayers.

but i do have a sun stand still prayers that i am seeing the beginnings of right now, and others that i don't know how GOD will be able to pull off in my life. there is no indication they will occur, at least not in the natural. but i'm believing that GOD is lining everything up. i am also doing another Bible study on thursday nights, called a woman after GOD's own heart, and i'm learning the importance of prayer in the early morning. i've already gotten an answer to a prayer that i didn't even realize i had. although it is not my sun stand still prayer, i think it's important to include here. i will get to my sun stand still prayers shortly.

so.....last friday morning after reading a few verses, one stuck with me throughout the morning. it was from psalm 136, and is repeated throughout the entire chapter. it was “His love endures forever.”  i was thanking GOD for that fact all day….GOD loves me, and His love endures forever. the Creator of the universe loves me. FOREVER!!! how cool is that?  so anyway, back to my answer to the prayer i didn’t know i had. i asked GOD which of my giftings would He use for His glory. it came to me as clear as i’ve ever heard….painting. this did not mean house painting, although i’ve done that in the past. this meant acrylic painting. on canvas. i used to do it all the time, but haven’t in a while. the main reasons that i stopped are: 1) my health—i get exhausted very easily and at the end of a day full of whatever life throws my way, the last thing i want to do is drag out painting gear; 2) no time. need i say more? so when GOD told me “painting” my first questions were “how?” and “when?”…while i explained how i felt every day. this is where it gets good. i believe that GOD clearly put it on my heart that He would provide the time, energy, strength, and inspiration to paint whenever i purpose to do it. tears immediately sprang to my eyes and i wanted to shout hallelujah! i didn’t; it was only 6:45 am after all, and josey was still asleep. but i did say “thank you” over and over (and over) again to GOD. i’m so excited about this…i can’t even begin to describe how i feel. i know that GOD will give me the inspiration to paint, as well as the ability, time, strength, energy, and creativity. hallelujah!

now, onto my sun stand still prayers. the first is what i am seeing manifest right now. i’ve been busy knitting and crocheting lately…hats. more specifically….kid hats. baby hats. i wasn’t sure they are good enough to sell, so i gave some away to people i thought might enjoy them for their little ones….ok, for their girls. the boy hats aren’t in the making as of yet. well, today GOD gave me the idea and boldness to post some hats for sale on my blog and facebook. i thought i would get a few comments about them, but not the response i did get. i originally just wanted to make them as gifts, and eventually do a bunch and donate to an organization. i also thought that it would be fun to try to start selling them for a nice extra income. but not right away. i figured i would do it for a while, give some away, get the word out that i’m making hats. and hope beyond hope that word gets out and people just come to me to make them a hat or 2. probably why my jewelry business never got off the ground. not the ideal marketing strategy, to say the least. i’m the worst salesperson you’ll ever meet. forget selling ice to an eskimo….i couldn’t sell water to a parched saharan-ite-person. seriously! so this idea really made me go out on a limb….of faith. it’s GOD’s idea, so he’s going to have to be the marketing director, the salesman, and the idea man. not to mention the “get-the-word-out-and-draw-people-in” person. because i am no good at it! but within an hour i had already sold 2 with the possibility of sellng a bunch to a friend for them to sell in their store. hallelujah! that is sun stand still prayer #1.

sun stand still prayer #2 is this:
for as long as i can remember, i’ve wanted to start a photography business. at one time i even downloaded and printed over 250 pages of a photography book to learn how to take better photos. i have an eye for potential great photos, just not the camera to take them. my sun stand still prayer is for everything i need to get this going. from the ideal camera, to people who want me to take photos for them. or of them. to make it even more interesting, i am going to believe for someone to just hand me a brand new camera, as well as any other equipment necessary for this to be a success. i will also believe (as long as i’m believing big) that someone will offer to take me on as a paid part-time apprentice or assistant, with the sole purpose for me to learn the ins and outs of a photography business. i will also need the boldness and confidence and creativity to make my business a success….all to GOD’s glory!

GOD is big….anything is possible for Him. even the things that i see as impossible. but things are possible for me when i believe. and i am believing for these big prayers to make the

David....danced with great abandon before God.
Psalm 6:14

hats! hats! hats for sale!

don't you just love that book? it's been ages since i've read it, but i was thinking of it as i was deciding on a title for this post. fairly appropriate, don't ya think?

so, as you can see, i've been busy these past few weeks. as i wrote to a friend on facebook, i just started not too long ago, but i'm *hooked*.  it all started with those cute newborn striped pompom hats. i knit about a dozen or so. then i found more online that i thought "i could do that". and so it blossomed....quite literally with all those flowers sprouting all over the place. and unbelievably, they only take a little over a couple hours to finish. that is if i am able to just sit down and do them. however, life is often not like that. like for real, what mom can actually just sit down for a couple hours without distractions or some kind of emergency flying in her face? seriously! it just doesn't happen. not around here anyway. i can't even get thru a movie without something luring me away. something that i forgot to do or take care of before i sat down. something that *needs* to be done immediately. something that probably could have waited til later. but with my mind going in 70 different directions at any given moment, i tend to forget if i don't do it immediately. which is why i don't get to sit thru a movie without getting up at least 5 times. then of course, that leads to other distractions, and before i know it, josey is asking "can i start the movie again or should i wait for you to come back?"  ooops! sorry.  back to the movie for another 20 minutes or so, at which point i'm on the move again.

but this is post is not supposed to be about my distracted mind, or my lack of concentration. it's supposed to be about the hats. so far i've created the striped newborn pompom hats in almost every color combination imaginable, plus all the other hats you see here. however, the black one, the purple one, and the pink one are gone already. those were actually done as gifts. but i wanted to put their pics up to show possibilities for other hats i can make. i'm sure i'll create others very similar in other color combos. so if anyone is interested in getting one (or a few) for their daughter(s), or even as gifts, just let me know. right now i'm fairly new at this thing so i won't be charging a whole lot at this point. so if you get them now, the prices are fairly reasonable. anywhere between $5 and $12, depending on difficulty and time and yarn. the newborn ones are $5, and the others are the other prices. they seriously only take little over 2 hours, so i could have them to you within a day or 2 for a 2-3 hats, longer for more (as long as no emergencies emerge--and if that were the case, i would let you know asap). like i said, any color combination, for pretty much any size child. i will also be starting on boys hats soon. they just aren't in the making yet. except the newborn ones of course.

so, if you are interested, please either comment here or on fb with your color combo and style, or if you have a different style in mind with a photo, email it to me and i will let you know if it's a possibility.

suddenly

something really weird happened to me on thursday night after the roadshow. josey and i didn't bring our jackets inside the arena because we didn't want to carry them around with us during the show. we should have realized this was a poor decision once we stepped outside our jeep. it was so cold. but no, we went without them. after the show, we knew it was going to be a miserable walk to the jeep. during the show it got colder, not to mention that it started snowing and blowing too. i haven't run that fast in a very long time. thankfully we found the jeep right away, and my key worked. it's been known to not work in the past, so i was concerned that this could be one of those time. thank God it wasn't.

once inside the jeep, and our jackets, hats, and gloves, we warmed up fairly quickly. i think running helped, along with heated seats. i let the temp inside the jeep warm up before heading out to avoid shaking while driving. it took only a few minutes to get to our hotel, but by the time i pulled into the driveway, the fingers on my left hand started to turn numb. i could pinch and squeeze them and felt little or nothing. my first thought was frostbite, but i didn't think i was outside long enough for that to have happened. by the time i got inside the motel, they were completely numb. i pulled off my gloves and saw that my ring and pointer fingers on my left hand were turning white. very quickly. it was almost as if they were losing circulation. in the room i watched them turn even whiter as i rubbed them. they were still numb and also felt cold to the touch. but my hands and other fingers were warm. i thought maybe if i ran them under warm water they would "thaw"out. because it didn't hurt when i did that, i didn't think it was frostbite. they just turned whiter and got colder. from the 2nd knuckle to the tips. josey was watching this all happen, so we were both starting to worry.

as i continued to watch my fingers grow whiter by the second, i almost expected them to start turning blue. josey must have too, because he asked if they were. they weren't but i don't think they could have gotten any whiter than they now were. i was really beginning to worry. i then thought that maybe they were losing circulation, so i started to shake my left hand to get the blood flowing to my fingertips. i noticed that just the tips from the first knuckle were now the only part that was white, but the rest of my hands and fingers were pale pink and the fingers still numb. i seriously imagined them turning black and falling off. that's when josey prayed "in Jesus' name, be healed!"  instantly, in front of our eyes, they suddenly turned a normal color, all feeling returned, and they no longer felt cold. and i mean SUDDENLY. hallelujah & thank You God!

it was a weird experience, but it was also neat to see the healing take place right before our eyes. God is so wonderfully good!

Alaska:
*Moose may not be viewed from an airplane.....ooops! don't look now, we're flying over a herd of moose

*While it is legal to shoot bears, waking a sleeping bear for the purpose of taking a photograph is prohibited....hey yogi, wake up and smile for the camera

*It is considered an offense to feed alcoholic beverages to a moose.....thus leading to pushing that obnoxious drunk moose out of the airplane

*A person may only carry a concealed slingshot if that person has received the appropriate license.........good to know

*It is against the law to attempt to break any law in title 9 of the code (public peace, morals, and welfare).....so, let me get this straight...it's against the law to break the law.....ok i can live with that

*Owners of flamingos may not let their pet into barber shops.....and there are flamingos in alaska? sorry pink birds, no haircuts for you

*One may not roam the city with a bow and arrows.....oh ok....i have nothing more to say about that one

*Persons may not allow “attractive nuisances” to exist.....i guess i have to get rid of my kid (he gave me permission to write that)

1 Corinthians 13:13 Pictures, Images and Photos

Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails….. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:1-8, 13

From bible.cc
suffereth long - Μακροθυμει, “patient”: Has a long mind; to the end of which neither trials, adversities, persecutions, nor provocations, can reach. it suffers all the weakness, ignorance, errors, and infirmities of the children of God; and all the malice and wickedness of the children of this world; and all this, not merely for a time, but long, without end; for it is still a mind or disposition, to the end of which trials, difficulties, etc., can never reach. bears its own infirmities, as well as those of others, with humble submission to the will of God.

is kind - Χρηστευεται· It is tender and compassionate in itself, and kind and obliging to others, even to enemies; it is mild, gentle, and benign; submissive to all the dispensations of God; and creates trouble to no one. liberal, and bountiful, does good to all men, , and especially to the household of faith; not morose, churlish, and ill natured; easy and yielding to the tempers and humours of men; accommodates himself to their infirmities, capacities, manners, and circumstances, in everything he can

Envieth not - οὐ ζηλόι ou zēloi. “jealous”: to be "zealous" for or against any person or thing; that is, to be eager for, or anxious for or against anyone. It is used often in a good sense but it may be used in a bad sense - to be zealous "against" a person; to be jealous of; to envy. Is not grieved because another possesses a greater portion of earthly, intellectual, or spiritual blessings.

Vaunteth (περπερεύεται) From πέρπερος a braggart. Used of one who sounds his own praises. This word is variously translated; acteth not rashly, insolently; is not inconstant, etc. does not desire to be noticed or applauded; but wishes that God may be all in all.

Is not puffed up - Ου φυσιουται· “arrogant”: Is not inflated with a sense of its own importance; for it knows it has nothing but what it has received; and that it deserves nothing that it has got; swelled with pride, and elated with a vain conceit of himself, of his parts and abilities, of his learning, eloquence, wisdom, and knowledge

From What is This Thing Called Love? by Bob Deffinbaugh (bible.org)
“I love one particular scene in the movie Crocodile Dundee. A folk hero from the outback country of Australia, Crocodile Dundee, visits New York City for the first time. While accompanied by a female newspaper writer, he finds himself cornered by a gang of young thugs. When Dundee does not immediately produce his wallet, one young hoodlum pulls out a switchblade and threatens Crocodile Dundee. Nonplused by such aggression, Crocodile simply reaches behind his back with the words, 'That’s not a knife,' suddenly producing the largest knife I have ever seen, 'This is a knife!' Quickly disarmed, the hoodlums run for their lives. As I read the thirteenth chapter of 1 Corinthians, I see Paul somewhat like Crocodile Dundee. His words seem to say, ‘That’s not love … THIS is love!’”

little puppy, big spirit

ok, so i have this dog. he's just a little dog. his name is goliath. we thought it would be fun to give such a big name to such a little puppy. a cute, sweet, fun, crazy, chaotic, little puppy.

but he's got this big problem. two really. first, he has a cat gene. how do i know this? he loves yarn. i'm not talking just chewing-and-chasing-it loves it. i'm talking roll-around-in-it loves it. tangle-it-around-yourself-and-run-around-the-house loves it. let's-see-how-frustrated-i-can-make-mom loves it.

some of you who have facebook may have seen the evidence of this. oh, but you haven't seen the half of it. i have photos upon photos of the yarn that he has destroyed. wrapped around table legs. knotted around blankets. knotted to other yarn. twisted. stretched. pulled. wrapped. tangled. re-tangled. strewn. from one end of our living room to the other.
i have come home the past 5 days to all-out chaos. if it was "just" yarn, that would be one thing. that's frustrating enough. it started with just my knitting that i had left out. that mostly happened while we were in the house. sometimes while i was busy blogging or cooking or cleaning. or taking a shower. then i got smart (or so i thought) and put it in a basket. ha! he figured out how to pull just the right one out that i had been working on last. some say it's my smell. i say he just likes to mess with me. after a few days of untangling the yarn from the basket, i moved all of my yarn to a rubbermaid tub with a lid. i told josey that if goliath got in that, he has some very magically talented fingers.

BUT yesterday i forgot to put in a bag of previously tangled yarn into the tub. we left for a few hours. came home to not one, not 2, not three, but FIVE skeins of yarn tangled around pretty much everything in the living room. and each other. plus my previous knitting project. it was one big ball of tangled chaos.

all i could do was stare with my mouth hanging open and then unwrap it from the obstacles and then throw it all back in the bag. no sense in trying to frustrate myself further at this point by trying to untangle it. not only was there yarn, but also blankets, stuffed animals, kleenex and carmex strewn across the floor. across the couch. across tables.

that leads me to his second problem. he gets on the table....S...plural. and my desk. he first started to do that after we got done eating, but i thought i had taken care of that little problem because he hadn't been doing it anymore....not that we knew of anyway. so he does it while we're not home. how do i know this? pencils. erasers. carmex. papers. folders. a ziploc bag of feathers. from the tables & desk. chewed up. scattered. all over the floor. even an un-rolled roll of tape. stuck to itself. with pink feathers. big hole chewed in ziploc bag. a corner chewed off a green folder. it actually all started with pencils with erasers. we have very few pencils with good erasers around our home anymore. we have few pencils with good LEAD around our home anymore. pens he doesn't care for too much. it's the pencils he's after. then it moved to carmex tubes. the kind you squeeze. so i have about 4 tubes that squirt carmex out of 10 different holes. then he moved onto yarn. then a stuffed puppy that was on the back of the couch. little E will NOT be pleased when she discovers that goliath has been nibbling on spot. so this morning after church we came home to that. pencils. green folder with corner chewed off. tape with feathers stuck to it. and to itself. blankets on the floor. blankets unfolded on the couch. kleenex chewed and scattered. hey, but no yarn! hallelujah!

so what am i to do? is he bored? does he need toys of his own? i don't think so. he has plenty of stuffed chew toys. a brown bunny. a blue cow. an orange squeaky bone. a pink monkey. balls. bones. i even gave him some junk yarn. he unrolled it, tangled it, then got bored with it and didn't touch it again. he plays with all his other toys while we're home. it's just when we're not home that he does all this other stuff. and it has only been the past 2-3 weeks.

otherwise he's a good puppy. he doesn't whine. he doesn't bite. he only barks when he hears an unusual noise or someone comes to the house. he's a protector. he pretty much lets us know when he has to go out. he goes to the back door and jumps against the door until we notice and let him out. he does potty inside at night tho. he probably wouldn't if i got up in the middle of the night to let him out. but i'm the type that if i get up after being asleep for an hour or 3, i can't get back to sleep. so wiping up potty in the mornings will be the consolation of getting a full night's sleep. i'll take the potty over no sleep any day.

ok, so he does have one other teeny tiny problem. well, maybe not so teeny. maybe not so tiny either. his breath. quite possibly the WORST puppy breath on the PLANET!!! probably the universe, as far as i'm concerned. it's not just puppy breath. it's what we have termed "dragon breath" around our house. it's absolutely atrocious! and i am NOT exaggerating. i am not. i am not. i most definitely am not. and because he's a licker, we get whiffs of this dragon breath quite often. and when he yawns. and when he sniffs around our face. or gets a little too close. like within 3 feet. seriously! you should really give it a sniff sometime when you're here and see if i'm not kidding.

oh, and he has 2 sets of canine teeth. has his not-too-sharp adult dog teeth. and still has his needle-like babies. not only are they needle-like. they are also curved. kind of like a fish hook. so they can really snag ya. and draw blood.

but as you can see from these photos, he's the most adorable, sweet, innocent-looking pup you could ever meet. until you leave him alone. or get too close to his dragon breath.

Jesus said, "The first in importance is, 'Listen, Israel: The Lord your God is one; so love the Lord God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy.' And here is the second: 'Love others as well as you love yourself.' There is no other commandment that ranks with these."

there's a comedian in the house

i  have the most entertaining and funny kid on the block...perhaps the planet. when i asked him tonight what i should blog about, he said, "nothing. just go to bed." i said, "but i have to write something. give me some ideas." so he said, "write: my bed is calling to me 'come to me all who are weary...'"  oh, i have a comedian in the house.

i wonder if anyone else can say that their son shows no shame in dancing and singing in front of their mom, grooving to the chipmunks version of "dynamite" by taio cruz.

is he a groover or what?!?

he's always had this talent of cheering me up and making me laugh at the most inopportune times, and usually when i am not in the mood to laugh, or even smile. ever since he was able to smile. his first true belly laugh was when he was about 3 weeks old, i fed him popsicles. he slurped them up and then would giggle, for no other reason than because he could. once he realized his ability for laughter, he's done what he can to laugh, and make others laugh. especially his crabby mom. and oh, she's been crabby fairly often in her old age.  not kidding!

other than his laughter, he leaves me notes around the house, expressing his undying love for me. ok, so i exaggerate a little bit. but just a little. it might not be undying, but he tells me quite often how much he loves his mom. and i'm fortunate enough to have that blessed role. just today he left me a note. when i was going upstairs to put little E down for a nap and to take one myself, i told him in half jest and half seriousness, "feel free to wash dishes" to which he replied "what if i do?" i said, "i'd probably die of shock." in his note he told me not to drop dead of a heart attack when i got downstairs and saw that the dishes were done. funny kid!  needless to say, i did not die of shock or heart attack. but i was pleasantly surprised. very pleasantly! very surprised! wish i could have gotten a picture of that. it would have been saved for posterity.

posterity = all future generations....i would have seriously had to show his grandkids that one! never before seen photos of their grandpa washing dishes. see it here first!

ok, so i exaggerate once again. but seriously, the kid does NOT do dishes. i literally have to pay him....and beg, and cry and threaten! so today when they got done, i thought maybe josey had to pay a gnome to do them. and then take the credit for it in the note. i guess he didn’t actually come out and tell me that HE did them, after all.  hhhmmmm.....maybe there’s something to that after all.

now, taking out garbage, that’s something he CAN do. he’s gotten to be a pro at it. it used to take him at least 20 minutes to empty all the garbages in the house. seriously! i often wondered, “WHAT is he doing that takes him so long?” now he’s gotten it down to a science, takes him less than 3 minutes. i’m tellin ya....he’s a pro in action when it comes to garbage emptying! and you should have seen him cleaning the bunny cage before the bunny passed on to bunny heaven. it used to be such a dramatic production whenever i mentioned the words “clean” and “bunny” in the same sentence. i’d hear the whining and complaining for hours before the task was actually completed. i’d often say “for crying out loud! just do it, and quit complaining.” after all, whether he complained or grumbled, he was still going to do it. it often got done just before bedtime, because he would put it off for so long. talk about procrastination at its finest! by the end of bunny’s life, josey had the cage cleaning perfected. wouldn’t take him more than 2 minutes. sometimes he’d get it done before i realized he had even started.

And mark that you do this with humility and discipline—
not in fits and starts, but steadily, pouring yourselves out for each other in acts of love,
alert at noticing differences and quick at mending fences.

sun. stand. still.

ok, so i have this wednesday night Bible study with a group of amazing women, all of whom are believing for a sun stand still prayer to be answered in their lives. some are believing for friends and family members to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. others for jobs to come thru for them or their husbands. or for things to happen with their children that they don't see happening without GOD intervening on their behalf. i hadn't shared what mine was, for the main reason that i wasn't entirely sure it was from GOD. sure, i have prayers for friends and family members to know Jesus. i also have prayers for my own child to continue to grow closer to Jesus. and although my greatest desire right now is to be healed, those aren't my sun stand still prayers.

but i do have a sun stand still prayers that i am seeing the beginnings of right now, and others that i don't know how GOD will be able to pull off in my life. there is no indication they will occur, at least not in the natural. but i'm believing that GOD is lining everything up. i am also doing another Bible study on thursday nights, called a woman after GOD's own heart, and i'm learning the importance of prayer in the early morning. i've already gotten an answer to a prayer that i didn't even realize i had. although it is not my sun stand still prayer, i think it's important to include here. i will get to my sun stand still prayers shortly.

so.....last friday morning after reading a few verses, one stuck with me throughout the morning. it was from psalm 136, and is repeated throughout the entire chapter. it was “His love endures forever.”  i was thanking GOD for that fact all day….GOD loves me, and His love endures forever. the Creator of the universe loves me. FOREVER!!! how cool is that?  so anyway, back to my answer to the prayer i didn’t know i had. i asked GOD which of my giftings would He use for His glory. it came to me as clear as i’ve ever heard….painting. this did not mean house painting, although i’ve done that in the past. this meant acrylic painting. on canvas. i used to do it all the time, but haven’t in a while. the main reasons that i stopped are: 1) my health—i get exhausted very easily and at the end of a day full of whatever life throws my way, the last thing i want to do is drag out painting gear; 2) no time. need i say more? so when GOD told me “painting” my first questions were “how?” and “when?”…while i explained how i felt every day. this is where it gets good. i believe that GOD clearly put it on my heart that He would provide the time, energy, strength, and inspiration to paint whenever i purpose to do it. tears immediately sprang to my eyes and i wanted to shout hallelujah! i didn’t; it was only 6:45 am after all, and josey was still asleep. but i did say “thank you” over and over (and over) again to GOD. i’m so excited about this…i can’t even begin to describe how i feel. i know that GOD will give me the inspiration to paint, as well as the ability, time, strength, energy, and creativity. hallelujah!

now, onto my sun stand still prayers. the first is what i am seeing manifest right now. i’ve been busy knitting and crocheting lately…hats. more specifically….kid hats. baby hats. i wasn’t sure they are good enough to sell, so i gave some away to people i thought might enjoy them for their little ones….ok, for their girls. the boy hats aren’t in the making as of yet. well, today GOD gave me the idea and boldness to post some hats for sale on my blog and facebook. i thought i would get a few comments about them, but not the response i did get. i originally just wanted to make them as gifts, and eventually do a bunch and donate to an organization. i also thought that it would be fun to try to start selling them for a nice extra income. but not right away. i figured i would do it for a while, give some away, get the word out that i’m making hats. and hope beyond hope that word gets out and people just come to me to make them a hat or 2. probably why my jewelry business never got off the ground. not the ideal marketing strategy, to say the least. i’m the worst salesperson you’ll ever meet. forget selling ice to an eskimo….i couldn’t sell water to a parched saharan-ite-person. seriously! so this idea really made me go out on a limb….of faith. it’s GOD’s idea, so he’s going to have to be the marketing director, the salesman, and the idea man. not to mention the “get-the-word-out-and-draw-people-in” person. because i am no good at it! but within an hour i had already sold 2 with the possibility of sellng a bunch to a friend for them to sell in their store. hallelujah! that is sun stand still prayer #1.

sun stand still prayer #2 is this:
for as long as i can remember, i’ve wanted to start a photography business. at one time i even downloaded and printed over 250 pages of a photography book to learn how to take better photos. i have an eye for potential great photos, just not the camera to take them. my sun stand still prayer is for everything i need to get this going. from the ideal camera, to people who want me to take photos for them. or of them. to make it even more interesting, i am going to believe for someone to just hand me a brand new camera, as well as any other equipment necessary for this to be a success. i will also believe (as long as i’m believing big) that someone will offer to take me on as a paid part-time apprentice or assistant, with the sole purpose for me to learn the ins and outs of a photography business. i will also need the boldness and confidence and creativity to make my business a success….all to GOD’s glory!

GOD is big….anything is possible for Him. even the things that i see as impossible. but things are possible for me when i believe. and i am believing for these big prayers to make the
SUN. STAND. STILL.

But you, God, shield me on all sides;
   You ground my feet, you lift my head high;
With all my might I shout up to God,
His answers thunder from the holy mountain.

Jesus said, "The first in importance is, 'Listen, Israel: The Lord your God is one; so love the Lord God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy.' And here is the second: 'Love others as well as you love yourself.' There is no other commandment that ranks with these."
Mark 12:29-31

pointed, probing, leading & loaded question of the week

ask your child what he/she considers the most beautiful thing in the world....what is the most beautiful thing to you?
